"What do we remember and speak of on our deathbeds? We do not boast of our résumés, or how much money we have in our bank accounts, or our educational degrees or fame. Most likely, we speak of the intangible experience of life, of the most precious treasures that we hold dear, of our loved ones. As Dickinson refers to here, it is all about love. That "Sweeping up the Heart" is forced upon us by a loved one's passing, or the entire town mourning; and in that "solemnest of industries" we endeavor to move on in pragmatism and in efficiency, as if we are to efficiently cover up the wounds, recover the shattered limbs, and bury the dead to move on."
